This century has been called the 'ludic century', as games and play have become the dominant cultural form of the era.

On this self-funded PhD programme, supervised by Dr Tara Woodyer, you'll develop research that explores the interplay between playful forms of behaviour, spaces and society.

Your research project could involve:

  • research into the playful design of spaces, technologies, forms of counter-culture politics and activism
  • playful ways of building and maintaining community relations

We're particularly interested in research that adopts a qualitative approach to the theme.

For more information on individual research interests and the specific projects that staff members have recently undertaken, visit our staff listing page.
