Each year, DCMS are invited by Buckingham Palace to recommend British citizens who have made an outstanding contribution, either nationally or locally, to attend a Royal Garden Party.

Dr Philippou was recommended alongside Kieran Maguire from the University of Liverpool, with whom two reports on the financial state of English football were co-authored to support the government鈥檚 work towards the Football Governance Bill.

The Bill had its Second Reading debate in the House of Commons on Tuesday 23 April and has now been sent to a Public Bill Committee, which will scrutinise the Bill. She has been invited to provide oral evidence to the Committee on Tuesday (14 May).

Dr Philippou has also been on a number of panels in relation to both men's and women's football, as well as feeding into a review of professional rugby union over the last few years.
